January 23, 2007 – Deer Park ISD, a Texas school district well known for their quality instructional program, facilities, and staff, announced today their choice of Data Foundry to provide disaster recovery services for the district. Deer Park ISD will utilize Data Foundry’s Austin Data Center as part of their daily backup strategy and also as a recovery site to house their mission-critical server infrastructure in a disaster situation.
Deer Park ISD, located southeast of Houston, found itself dangerously close to hurricanes approaching the Texas Gulf during the 2005 storm season. This compelled the district to seek a disaster recovery solution that would give them an additional failsafe towards keeping their data safely out of harm’s way in the event of a disaster affecting their area.
“Deer Park ISD has a reputation for providing excellent service to this community and to our students. In order to maintain that level of excellence it is necessary for us to be able to retain server operations critical to daily activities in the event of a hurricane or other disaster in the Deer Park community. Our teachers and staff must continue to receive their paychecks on time, our students’ confidential records must be protected, and our schools must be able to get back to the important business of educating our students as soon as possible. Data Foundry’s reputation for quality and high levels of availability led us to select them as our disaster recovery provider. I have been so impressed with the caliber of Data Foundry’s data center and customer service that I have recommended them to other school districts seeking disaster recovery services,” said Ryan Petru, Director of IT for Deer Park ISD.
“Data Foundry provides disaster recovery services to institutions within the Texas education sector, including St. Edward’s University and San Jacinto College. More and more schools from the primary level all the way up to major universities are recognizing the importance of having 100% access to their data in the event of a local disaster. Members of the community need to know that their schools and school districts can recover with little downtime after a major event such as a hurricane. Deer Park ISD’s choice to house their backup servers in one of Data Foundry’s premier data centers is just one example of the increasing number of schools and school districts implementing disaster recover plans in the wake of the 2005 hurricane season,” said Mark Noonon, VP of Data Foundry, Inc.
