Austin, TX – November 13, 2012 – Data Foundry has announced that Texas Lone Star Network (TLSN), a consortium of 40 Rural Telecommunications Carriers in Texas, has made Texas 1 the Austin hub for their fiber network. The fiber node TLSN installed within the Texas 1 data center allows customers unparalleled network access through a highly comprehensive Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) backbone with multiple Ethernet rings. TLSN operates over 4500 fiber route miles lit with DWDM offering 10Gig and 40G optical wavelength, Gigabit Ethernet (GigE) and SONET transport services via Cisco 15454 ONS Multiservice Transport Platforms (MSTP).
“We’re very excited about the options Texas 1 provides us and our customers,” states Brad Seymour, General Manager at TLSN, “Installing our Point-of-Presence in Texas 1 allows us to make Austin one of the major hubs for our network which connects over 35 cities in Texas and an additional 6 cities in New Mexico.”
TLSN offers point-to-point wavelengths throughout their DWDM backbone network. DWDM combines data from different sources together with each signal carried simultaneously on its own separate wavelength. Since each channel is demultiplexed back into the original source, different data formats can be transmitted together. Ethernet, IP data, Synchronous Optical Network data (SONET), and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) data can all be sent at the same time. TLSN offers several unique services such as TLSN Texas Waves®, a unique service offering of multiple 10Gig or 2.5Gig optical wavelengths bundled together. This creative offering is the perfect alternative solution for Service Providers who are faced with the high cost of a dark fiber IRU, maintenance and DWDM electronics. TLSN Ethernet Express® is another unique Ethernet ring aggregation service for connecting multiple locations providing customers the ability to add or change sites as their business needs change.
“TLSN’s installation at Texas 1 furthers our goal of offering our customers unmatched network choice.” explains Edward Henigin, CTO of Data Foundry. “Fiber optic hubs such as this are the backbone for many service offerings, and we’re excited about the opportunities this provides our clients and the customers of TLSN.”
Texas 1 is the most redundant and secure data center and disaster recovery solution available in Texas and is located in an area of dense fiber-optic connectivity. From this strategic location, TLSN is able to create a long haul network that reaches more metro areas than any other telecommunications group in Texas.
